Travel makeup is different than my everyday skincare routine. Packing makeup can lead people to overpacking again, right?
Makeup Hack that Helps Me
Every trip I ask if I should take all my makeup brushes. In my head I know I should not. There are easy ways to organize my travel toiletries but there is one item that stays in my liquids bag for certain destinations.
Tip:
Take a screenshot (at the end) of the travel tips for liquids to refer back to.
I rely on this hack when I travel to dry climates like:
- Phoenix, Arizona or
- Las Vegas, Nevada or
- Breckenridge, Colorado
I treat my dry, cracked lips to this treatment that feels like velvet.
- It sits on top of your lips.
- It looks like vaseline.
- It’s better than lipgloss!
I do not use it every day because it is a treat.
Daily and for travel, I use neutral lipstick, a Too Faced Lip Injection (lip gloss) and a neutral to red lip pencil if I need more color on my over 40 midlife skin.
What makeup needs extra screening in airport security?
The TSA needs any liquid travel items in one container for screening. Here is an easy way to pack makeup. If the item needs a container to stay in one place, it needs to be packed in the liquids bag.
Examples of travel makeup that needs to be in the quart bag:
- Mascara (technically)
- Lip gloss
- Cream or liquid foundation
- Dry shampoo
My husband (pilot) and I disagree about Vaseline. I always pack it in the quart bag.
Balms or pressed foundation are solids.
