Here are 10 new travel hacks for 2025.

Since we pack in only carryon luggage I will share travel hacks that will save you space.

When I use a tip or trick that saves time or saves space when traveling, I call it a hack.

If you learn these hacks for travel, you will pack less. It could also mean that you will pack fewer items because they perform multiple uses.

#1: Vest

The new travel hack that my viewers made me try is a vest.

A vest can solve these problems for travelers:

  • Pack less in your suitcase
  • Protect valuables
  • Reflects car lights if walking at night

It has 6 huge pockets for large items.

Flying with a strict airline that weighs your bags?

  • Pack your iPad, curling iron, sweater in these pockets and wear them into the airplane. Then move them when you get to your seat. If it saves you $55 to check luggage, it may be worth it to you.

#2: Crossbody Bag

Another trick is for passengers who are not allowed a third carryon bag. You have your carryon luggage, your personal item, and now your crossbody bag will fit inside a pocket.

Mine will fit in either the outer or inside pocket.

It’s water-resistant as well for any vacation outfit between seasons.

#3: Cotton Ball Swabs

Natalie life hacks: stick post earrings through cotton swabs

I recently started using this container again from 8 years ago. Large earrings especially beach type earrings.

Do not forget that you can squeeze makeup remover on those cotton swabs or cotton balls and pack them in a baggie to use while on vacation. They do not count as liquid.

#4: Carabiners

Carabiner to hold tote handles together with coat between. Some tote bag passengers can connect the handles.

Then use that area as a tunnel for a jacket or travel pillow.

Use a tiny carabiner to connect zippers to slow down a criminal.

Use a carabiner hook for your toiletry kit or pouch if you have a tiny airplane seat pocket.

Here is why: I pack my travel essentials for my airplane seat in a toiletry kit pocket that hangs. Then everything I need is within arms reach.

Some of my viewers do not want to touch the inside of that seat pocket. You can attach it if netted or clip it over the seat pocket. If it does not have a clip, you can use a carabiner.

My husband uses a brightly colored carabiner on his backpack so no one mistakes it for theirs.

If you pack a travel blanket or baseball hat, attach it to the clip.

#5: Necklace Storage

If you travel with jewelry, use this hack to prevent a necklace from tangles: leave an inch of the necklace out of a baggie and zip across to it.

I have tried the chain down a straw and never have liked it but that’s a classic one too.

#6: Compression Packing Cube

Jen’s Tip: wear more clothes than necessary. Once you get into the seat, pull out the empty compression cube and pack those layers in there. Use as pillow or carabiner it to your backpack handle at end of flight.

#7: Credit Card Theft Hack

One of our viewers used this travel hack to protect credit card identification theft. You cut a rectangle of cardboard in foil for RFID. She asked Am Express too and they said it absolutely works.

You can also use RFID blocking sleeves or a wallet.

Credit cards have more personal information than a passport or drivers license so protect yourself while traveling.

#8: Cords and Chargers

Brenda uses a pencil case as charger holder. Brilliant and still lightweight. One of the cord organizers I use has similar construction with really strong velcro if you need a pocket and smooth zippers.

Do not forget the travel hack to help you organize electronic cords. Add a snippet of decorative tape like Washi Tape from Michael’s or anywhere. It will help you know which cord matches with which device while inside a dark airplane or while on your vacation.

#9 & #10: Toiletries Hacks

I think this hack is from my video just for women. Donna takes container lids off of sprays like mousse or pumps to make more room in her liquid bag. After airport security she puts them all back on.

Use balloons as bottle covers. I bought the actual covers, but you get 10 in one set. I only use mine for my prescription shampoo which actually leaked some during a flight.

Wrap shower cap around brush and comb and secure with hair tie to protect bristles and teeth.

I have shown you several travel essentials that have multiple uses. Now I want to teach you how I pack in only a carryon luggage with my outfits.
