5 MakeUp Organizers That Are Already In Your House

I seriously need help with how to organize my cosmetics.  I looked to my makeup holders and my existing beauty products drawer situation.   I didn’t want to buy a caddy to hold all of my make up so I adjusted my “glasses.”

I stared at my drawer for 3 seconds and thought, “Why am I using this narrow drawer for my makeup?”  A wider drawer is RIGHT BESIDE the narrow one.  Wider drawer equals more organized eyeshadows, powders, and other essentials for skin care.  But I know wider, for me, means more room to spread everything around with no rhyme or reason.How-to-Organize-Makeup-Drawer-Holders-Caddy-Beauty-Products.001

When you put your Creative MakeUp Organizing spectacles on, you see your ordinary items in a whole NEW way.  Pantry Containers I now see as Makeup Holders: Makeup - bag.001

Fit

I have been in this house two years, bought these containers on Amazon just to get everything in a place and am now rethinking that plot.  I tried both containers side by side, and they just don’t fit.makeup-messy-organized

No idea why I gave fingernail polishes a home in the wide drawer! organize cosmetics holder makeup vanity repurpose

  1. Switch drawers.
  2. What containers will puzzle together for maximum storage?
  3. Which containers are free in my house?
  4. Spray paint for a uniformed look.

See how perfect these shapes are?  We can puzzle piece them together for cosmetic storage, uniform look and fit all for one super low cost!  I spray painted them all and love them! PIC_0478

I also spray painted my yogurt container and wrapped it with washi tape from my Happy Planner videos. Look what fits perfectly in them! holder-how-to-organize-makeup-holder-qtips

I truly love the containers I bought and have used for two years!  I will continue to use the more narrow one to hold just the cosmetics that I use the most often.  It’s super sturdy and clear and clean looking.  The wider one will continue to hold my fingernail polishes.  In the video above you can see the beveled floor of these containers.  I would venture to say that they are unbreakable!

So I put my blush, Milani Eye Palette, Japonesque Matte Palette, Bronzer, brow gel, and blue eyeshadow in the narrow container.  five-makeup-organizers-already-in-your-home-holder-cosmetics

My cracker box holds my highlighter, vaseline, powder and hair holders.  I love the look of this.  Even more is my love for function!  I did this for such a low cost!  Yay DIY!  Yay me!

The Easiest “Party Nail” for This Summer

//rcm-na.amazon-adsystem.com/e/cm?o=1&p=13&l=ez&f=ifr&linkID=5299ce778e423adbbc8a9b688434f304&t=la0456-20&tracking_id=la0456-20

This summer I’m guiding you to the easiest and smartest ways to create your own nail art for a beach trip. It’s your “party nail” – that’s when one fingernail design is having its own party.  The nine other nails have a solid nail polish color – the wall flowers of your party.  Which is  your nearest ocean: the Atlantic, off of California, in the Bahamas, the US Virgin Islands?  Let’s make nail art for the summer.

Nice to meet you!  POP over to my YouTube Channel to see more detailed pics and demonstrations!

3 Things POP into my head when painting a “party nail” on my fingernails for a beach trip.

1. What colors match my bathing suit?

Some of you may not care if the nails match completely.  I just want them to blend.

2. What glitter do I have?

The color of your solids determines which color glitter you will want.

3. Do I want the party nail to blend with the other nails or really POP with its own party?  Muted or Pizzazz?

Wedding ring was off because I was on the way to sinus surgery.

My nail art is flamingo inspired for the beach this summer.  I loved the pinks and gold in my Recollection stickers so I ended up going with a fuchsia pink beside the gold.

I debated whether or not to use my favorite pink: A-rose at Dawn, Broke by Noon.  In the end, it had too much silver that does not go with gold.

Then I started thinking, wait, flamingos are salmon colored-not fuchsia.  So you can try that orangey tone next to the gold.  I don’t like it as much as I like the Kiss Me On My Tulips by OPI.  Then I put glitter on top of the orange color, and it can give you a much more muted but fun beachy look.

I wanted my party nail to really stand out, and the best way to do that is by using the lightest color in the gold glitter.

Look closely; see the white in that gold?  So my base color should be the lightest color that is in the glitter….

The best ever white fingernail polish is Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear White On.  Here is a sample of a cheapy cheap white by Sinful Colors-that’s what was cheapest in my grocery store that day.  They’re mostly milky.  OPI has a better one, Alpine Snow, but it still not the best.

This stuff is like white out.  Raise your hand if you ever painted your nails with white out in school in the 80s….

Glitter Nail Polish

When you’re picking out glitter, make sure it is condensed looking.  You do not want the ones that have big pieces of glitter or sequin type pieces (below).  It’s super extra sticky, which makes it hard to get off.  Plus, it has minimal impact.  You hardly see the party.  No one will want to attend that party. glitter-nail-art-summer

See how the gold and purple glitter are like a powder?  That will give you more impact.  More bang for your effort.

When using a blue toned glitter, the base color can be a lighter purple, a pink or a light pink.  So I’m going to try all three and show you the different party offerings.

So then I tried white because I do see white in this glitter.  Look how it is turning out on the video above.  It makes me not like this glitter as much.  It looks goopy and not very condensed.  BUT what if we painted our other nails a I’m Not Really a Waitress (red), and this white one with silver, red and blue glitter POPped?  Looks like a patriotic party, right?  That’s next week’s nail art for sure!  Happy Summer Beach Trippin, friends!

Make Your House WheelChair Accessible

I’m showing you how to make your house wheelchair accessible or handicapped accessible. You may need to temporarily provide access for a wheelchair in your home. I am going to help you prepare your house for a wheelchair by giving you wheelchair hacks that worked for us.   I’m dividing your house into 4 stations. wheelchair

We took the doors off of the bathrooms…and by we I mean a friend named Jerry.  Our walker would not fit through the bathroom door, but the wheelchair did.

In the video above, I’ve divided your house into four stations for your wheelchair.  I promise the video will help you and your family member!

Wheelchair Needs:

Power strips at each station wheelchairaccessible

Large pitcher if have to fill animal’s bowl with water or food or cut a gallon jug.  Trick: Use them upside down for food.

What We Used:

I’m linking these items to help you and your family member.

Walker Basket – Velcro

Lanyard – Note:  we used one that we had laying around the house

Lap Board

USB cord

Water Bottle

Aluminum Cup

Armrest Bag and Organizer

Walker

We have this Walker, but it’s more expensive. We tried our best to move the wheels to the inside, and they don’t budge.  Two men tried as well.  But these walkers are very sturdy for family members who get off balance easily.

Liquids on a Plane – Tips on Packing Them

Toiletries for Travel in My Carry On

With so many TSA (Transportation Security Administration) guidelines for toiletries during airline travel, I thought my tips could help!

Love love love GoToob because it does not leak.  I use it for shampoo.  You don’t need as much shampoo as you might think.  I fill this in increments of the days I will wash my hair.  One teaspoon, another teaspoon…I don’t just squirt shampoo in all the way to the top because on an airplane this liquid needs some space for air.

Toiletries Travel Liquids

You don’t have to only use bottles.  I love these new disc containers-so good for moisturizer (LOOK HOW BIG MY MOISTURIZER BOTTLE IS) for your face, vaseline for swim rash, jewelry, pills, but that’s not liquids.  Stay focused.  You can put your facial cleanser in here.  You only need a dab a day, right?

Once you’ve made your vacation toiletries packing list (you can watch this Packing video and get free printables here), you are ready for your liquids.

Carry On Liquids Toiletries

I use this On the Fly liquids bag, and I’ll link it below.  I like it because it’s sturdy and can get wet.  It’s like a soft, thick and clear plastic baggie.  Its zipper is THE reason I bought it, besides the Lipstick that looks like an Airplane?

I’ll show you the difference between what this can hold and what my normal quart sized bag can hold.

Toiletries Airplane

If you watched my other packing liquids video, I showed you that laying your bottles horizontally will help you fit more bottles in.

Two Vacation Travel Packing Lists – Kids and Adults

Here are two Vacation Packing Lists for Travel and can be used in your Me and My Big Ideas – Create 365 – The Happy Planner. These FREE printable travel lists help you and your child take a mental snapshot of your day.

I created one vacation packing list for your child. Do you make lists for your child? Do you make the list for everyone all at once, or one piece of paper? Do you do it by family member?

My 12 year old is old enough to pack his own suitcase, but he wants me to make the list for him. It’s important that he practice this (in my former teacher’s opinion). Then, when he goes to pack again, I bet you money that he will have this mental image while picking out clothes.

You OR Your child writes in each circle the outfit she will wear, along with shoes and pajamas, swimsuit, swim shoes, hair bow, deodorant, nasal drops, or their lifelong stuffed animal (Horsie). Usually, girls appreciate a cute printable on which to make their list. My boy could care less. But I like the visual of this; it’s like a School Planner, divided into sections or Pictures of Their Day.

For you grown ups, I created a list broken into Morning, Noon and Night.  I’ve also included blank printables in case you want to customize either vacation packing list.
